THEATRE NEWSLETTER | APRIL 2022
On the outside, Zach Weih presents himself as a philosophy major with a pre-law minor from the small town of Wheatland, Iowa. While this is all true, what most people don't know is that Weih also has a love for theatre, performance, and singing. This love has brought him to be heavily involved in the St. Çï¿ûÊÓƵ theatre department since he arrived this fall.
Weih has participated in theatre since his elementary school days and continued his love for performance through middle school and high school. Some of Weih's favorite roles he had while attending Calamus Wheatland High School were Jack from Into the Woods, Mrs. Trunchbull from Matilda, and Mr. Mushnik from Little Shop of Horrors.
Weih's love for performance eventually led him to St. Çï¿ûÊÓƵ where he has already been extremely successful and involved in the theatre department. So far he has gotten to portray the roles of Orcus in SAU's Fall 2021 mainstage production of She Kills Monsters and this Spring he will be portraying Rodrigo in SAU's mainstage musical Little Women.
"Playing a great part like Orcus in She Kills Monsters as a freshman was an amazing experience," Weih said. "Little Women has also been a great experience so far! I can tell that we have a very special show in the works. The group of talented people we have coming together to make this show happen is truly a winning formula."
Weih has had a very positive experience with the SAU theatre department and is very excited for what the future holds for him and his fellow Ambrosians. He might even have some exciting developments of his own to share!
"I'm excited to be a part of future theatre productions and me and my friend, sophomore Drew Dowda, are in the process of writing an original musical!" Weih exclaimed.
Weih has certainly had a marvelous time participating in music and theatre since coming to St. Ambrose and we can't wait to see what he does next! The theatre department wishes Weih the best of luck going forward with his original musical, his theatre and music career, and his philosophy and pre-law track!
